New to Okey? Think of it as a game of patterns, timing, and knowing which tile to let go.
From your first tile to your winning hand. Learn the essentials of the traditional game.
There are two copies of numbers 1–13 in each of four colours, plus two false jokers: 106 tiles altogether.
The starting player receives 15 tiles; everyone else receives 14. The remaining tiles form the face-down draw pile. A numbered indicator tile is turned face up.
The starting player discards once without drawing. Play then moves anticlockwise: take the previous player’s latest discard or draw from the pile, then discard one tile.
Keep your combinations on your rack until you finish. Classic Okey has no 101-point opening requirement and no laying tiles onto opponents’ combinations.
A run has at least three consecutive numbers in one colour. A set has three or four equal numbers, each in a different colour.
A 1 can begin a run (1–2–3) or end one after 13 (12–13–1). It cannot connect 13 back to 2: 13–1–2 is invalid. A tile belongs to only one combination.
The okey is one number above the indicator, in the same colour. If the indicator is 13, it is the 1 of that colour. Both copies of this numbered tile are wild and can replace a missing tile.
The two symbol tiles are false jokers (sahte okey). They represent only the okey tile’s assigned number and colour; they are not wildcards.
Complete all 14 tiles as valid runs and sets, then discard your fifteenth tile to finish.
Alternatively, collect seven pairs. Each pair must match in both number and colour; a real okey may stand in for a matching tile. Seven pairs cannot be mixed with runs or sets.
In common traditional scoring, an ordinary finish costs each opponent 2 points; finishing with seven pairs or discarding a real okey costs them 4. Optional indicator bonuses and other scoring variations depend on the table.
If the draw pile is exhausted and nobody can finish with the last available discard, the round is drawn. In-game league points and rewards follow the selected match settings.
Okey is a traditional Turkish tile game in the rummy family. Players arrange numbered tiles into runs and sets, aiming to complete a winning hand.
